The older son of LeBron James, Bronny James, has a heart attack at a USC basketball practice.

 According to a statement released Monday, Bronny James, the eldest son of NBA star LeBron James, suffered a heart attack during basketball practice at the University of Southern California and was hospitalized.

According to the statement, his condition has stabilized and he has been released from the intensive care unit.

Bronny James collapsed with a heart attack yesterday during practice. Bronny was able to receive medical attention and be transported to the hospital. "He has improved to the point where he no longer requires intensive care," the statement read.

Bronny, 18, recently graduated from Sierra Canyon High School in Los Angeles and will be playing basketball as a freshman at the University of Southern California. The 6-foot-3 combo guard was a standout in the March McDonald's All-American Game, which featured the best high school basketball players in the country. He was a four-star recruit.

In his final year of high school, he averaged 14.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.7 steals, and he joined a USC team that was trying to make it to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth year in a row.

The medical team at USC has recently dealt with a similar situation. USC freshman big Vince Iwuchukwu collapsed and died after a summer workout in July 2017. Iwuchukwu said he fainted during a water break at practice in a video he posted to Twitter earlier this year.

USC said that athletic trainers Jon Yonamine, Erin Tillman, and Lauren Crawford revived him with CPR and an electric shock. Over six months later, in January, Iwuchukwu finally made his basketball debut after recovering from his injury.

The coaching staff earned high marks from head coach Andy Enfield in January.

"They really do an amazing job, not only keeping our players healthy, but when something happens, they do therapy, and when something serious happens, like in Vince's case, they're ready to respond immediately."

The NFL's Buffalo Bills' Damar Hamlin went into cardiac arrest during a "Monday Night Football" game in January, landing him in the hospital for more than a week.
